Farewell Forum…Meet me at the Hideout Magazine!

By KinaWilliams on July 24, 2010 @ 12:24 pm

During the 2 years that The Hideout Forum has been operating, there have been some amazing evolutions. Within this community, I have experienced great leaps in my personal and professional growth. The friends I have made and the feedback I have received has made me feel I’m part of a family. I want to let you know of some changes to The Hideout: some good, and some sad. My continuing goal is to provide a safe, comfortable and fun space for photographers to learn, grow and share!

The sad news is that the Hideout Forum will be closing its doors and going offline.  We are no longer accepting new member registration, and on August 9, 2010 we will be shutting down member and public access to the forum completely. The Hideout Admin team is sad to see it go, but we are excited for the new changes and evolutions of this beautiful community! Closing down the forum is just one aspect of this evolution.

The good news is that the Hideout Magazine Blog is a success!! We are looking forward to putting our energy into growing with the Blogging world. It’s a great way for an internet community to stay in touch, learn, grow and support each other, while still having a life, kids and career!  Blog subscription and management is much easier and less time consuming to navigate than the forum system.  We will be posting on a more frequent basis, and our guest bloggers are gearing up to contribute their knowledge and expertise.

Looking over the forum we noticed many amazing resources and threads still pertinent to photographers today. Using that information, we plan to compose new and exciting blog articles. It is my goal to keep The Hideout community growing and flourishing, while also making it much easier to navigate and find information you are looking for.

More good news…Cheers to the fabulous Pam Garnett for starting The Hideout Flickr group!!  I encourage those of you on Flickr to become a part of the photo sharing! Maybe this is just the thing to get you motivated to start an account? Maybe you’re looking for a new Flickr community to be a part of? Pam will take GREAT care of you.

**IMPORTANT**  information for existing members!!

Once we shut down the forum, the information contained there will no longer be viewable by members or the public. Only Michelle Black and I will have access to the information.

Please take the time to do a few things before August 9, 2010…

1)     Please log on to the forum and exchange contact information with other members if you would like to stay in touch, and haven’t already done so. You can private message other members by clicking on their profile, or click here to view the FB/Twitter/Flickr/website/blog thread.

2)     Please log in to read the Terms of Agreement regarding how the information contained on the forum is going to be used. If you take no action on your account prior to August 9th 2010, you will be in agreement with the usage terms. If you do NOT agree with the terms of use you will find instructions at the end of the agreement on how to opt out.

3)     If you have posted a Hideout Forum banner on your website/blog/social networking site(s) we ask that you please remove that banner and/or replace it with this one: Hideout Magazine Banner

As of August 9, 2010 the link in any forum banner in existence will be  broken.

It is our sincere hope that you will continue to remain a vibrant part of this evolving community.  Know that you HAVE and ARE making a difference in this world through your art and humanity. Sharing IS Caring and The Hideout is a wonderfully caring community and I look forward to positively encouraging its existence and growth.

If you are interested in becoming a guest blogger for The Hideout Magazine or if you have any questions or concerns, please email: thehideout@kinawilliams.com

On behalf of the entire Hideout administration team (past and present) I’d like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your participation on the forum.  We look forward to seeing you here at the Hideout Magazine!!!

Kina Williams
